As Chief Executive Officer of the health plan, serving almost one out of three residents in Orange County, California, Michael is responsible for the Mission and Vision of CalOptima Health, serving its members, managing its systems and structures as well as overall strategic business, network, financial and community planning. He oversees all aspects of the health plan’s $4.7B budget, and maintains close working relationships with the Board, members, providers, and community organizations as well as local city, county, state, and federal elected officials. Prior to joining CalOptima Health, in November 2021, Hunn was President and Founder of a healthcare and business advisory firm. He has more than 25 years of executive leadership experience in CEO/President roles with hospitals, health systems, and now with CalOptima Health. He holds a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and a master’s degree in systematic theology. Hunn has been an Orange County resident since 1994.
